Praise for Polis’ Child Care Plan
BOULDER, CO – Coinciding with his visit to Google’s Boulder office last week, Jared Polis announced his plans for easing the burden on millions of families struggling with the high cost of child care. Since then, Polis has received praise from local child care and early education experts and others for a plan that really offers to deliver significant help for America’s working families.
Here’s what people are saying about Jared’s plan:
"I commend Jared Polis for taking a stand on this critical national issue. The reality is too many working families have to make tough choices regarding the care and education of their young children… I am grateful that Jared recognizes how important this is and the long term impact these public policy changes will have on our communities."
-Stephanie Baer, Executive Director Children's Outreach Project, Adams County
"We know the enormous impact early experiences have on our children’s future potential and the vital role quality child care plays in ensuring children thrive and are ready for success when they enter school… Now is the time for real change and the Polis plan offers a road map with real life strategies to tackle this enormously important system. This plan can take us to a new level of commitment to children and to our future." -Sheila Groneman, Summit School District RE-1 Board of Education
“This plan is a long-overdue solution to many of the current problems facing young families and early childhood programs in Colorado… Mr. Polis is on the mark in calling for greater federal investments that will increase the quality of early childhood services and reduce the costs of these services for young working families. Early childhood programs, parents, children, employers and communities would all benefit from the approach he has proposed. Well done!”
-Angela Goldrick, School Readiness Coordinator for Adams County
“For all the talk about family values, this is one plan that would actually help struggling families raise their children…”
-Weekly Roundup, SquareState.net, July 10, 2008
